The Aemet warns of the activation of notices in 14 provinces due to heat, storms, rain and waves

The heat, storms, rainfall and coastal phenomena will activate warnings in 14 Spanish provinces on Monday, according to the prediction of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) which foresees a day marked by significantly high temperatures in areas of the archipelagos, Andalusia , northeast, center of the peninsula, as well as periods of strong wind in the Canary Islands, where minimum temperatures can still exceed 30ºC, among other significant phenomena.

Specifically, high temperatures will activate warnings in Córdoba, Granada, Jaén, Teruel, Zaragoza, Mallorca, Albacete, Gerona, Gran Canaria, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife. All these Canary Islands will also activate warnings for coastal phenomena. In addition, the storms will activate the warnings in Zaragoza and Navarra and the rains in Guipúzcoa and Vizcaya.

In a good part of the country, this Monday the slightly cloudy skies will predominate. However, cloudy skies or with cloudy intervals are expected in the north of Galicia and Cantabria, without ruling out showers and locally strong storms in the early hours of the morning, and then with probable scattered light rains spreading from west to east.

There will also be intervals of low morning clouds in neighboring areas to the south, as well as in the peninsular Mediterranean area, the Strait and the Alborán coastline. In the afternoon, intervals of evolving clouds are expected in the northeast quadrant of the peninsula and, more dispersedly, in the interiors of the rest of the eastern third, with the probability of storms, generally dry, accompanied by some isolated mountain showers. They could be locally strong in the middle of the Ebro, especially around Cinco Villas.

There is a probability of scattered morning mists and fog banks in the interior of Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea and the eastern end of the peninsula, while the haze in the Canary Islands will tend to lessen.

The maximum temperatures will increase in the Mediterranean area and Asturias, and decrease in the Canary Islands, Navarra, the Basque Country and central and southwestern areas. In the case of the minimums, they will decrease in the Canary Islands and in the southwestern quadrant of the peninsula, and increase in the middle of the Ebro. No major changes are expected in the rest.

In the case of the Canary Islands, the minimum temperatures can still exceed 30ºC. In addition, it can reach 35 to 37ºC in the midlands of the islands with the highest relief, especially those facing south and west. In these areas of Gran Canaria, temperatures of 38ºC could be locally exceeded. Trade winds with strong intervals are also expected.

On the Peninsula, there will be generally light winds in the rest with some moderate intervals, with an eastern component in the Mediterranean area and a western component on the Atlantic slope.
