Historical heat record in Barcelona in the month of February: 23.3 degrees this weekend

New temperature record. The Fabra Observatory in Barcelona recorded the warmest day in a month of February in its 110 years of history, a record maximum of 23.3 degrees. Until now the record had been broken on February 3, 2020, with 22.4 degrees.

But the heat has not only been felt in the capital, there has been an atypically spring-like atmosphere in much of Catalonia, with maximum temperatures that have ranged between 20 and 25 degrees. The 25.4ºC in Navata, in Alt Empordà, or the 25.3 in Girona city stand out.

Furthermore, this atypical atmosphere at the beginning of February will be repeated on Monday with practically no change. However, where some fog will remain is in Ponent and the Ebro, which this Sunday had a very cold atmosphere in the area.

All of this in a context of extreme drought in Catalonia, which has forced the Government to decree a state of emergency and tighten restrictions to save water, given the lack of significant rainfall in recent weeks.

Furthermore, this Monday the plan promoted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition will be finalized, which has proposed to the regional executives of Catalonia and the Valencian Community to transport water in ships from the Segunt desalination plant to the port of Barcelona.
