Total debacle of Ciudadanos in Madrid by losing all its mayors and vice mayors

Madrid has been the last step in the decomposition that Ciudadanos is experiencing throughout the country. The orange party, which in these municipal elections ran in 64 of the 179 that make up the Community of Madrid, has lost in this 28-M all its mayoralties, deputy mayoralties and command posts in the Madrid towns where it was now part of the Government and almost all its councilors.

Specifically, until now it held 9 mayoralties, a dozen vice-mayoralties or tenures of mayoralty and 256 councilors. Except for strange pacts at the investiture, he will lose all his places in Madrid. And almost all the councilors of him, since he retains only 15.

In addition to losing the 'jewel in the crown' of the 'orange' party in Spain, the vice-mayor of the capital, led by Villacís, has lost all its strength in eight years. In 2019, it was presented in 113 municipalities and became decisive for the formation of the government in many of them, with pacts with both the PSOE and the PP.

The municipalities in which the centrist party governed until yesterday are Valdemoro, Paracuellos de Jarama, Torrejón de la Calzada, El Molar, Villarejo de Salvanés, Robledo de Chavela, Santa María de la Alameda and La Acebeda. He also achieved the mayoralty of Villaviciosa de Odón, which he lost in 2021 in favor of the PP after a motion of no confidence in this party with Vox.

In addition, in Alcobendas he reached an agreement to assume it two years later, with the 'orange' Aitor Retolaza currently being the mayor. He also obtained vice mayors in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Miguel Ángel Perdiguero) and Alcalá de Henares (Miguel Ángel Lezcano). In addition, he achieved the mayoralty of Villaviciosa de Odón, which he lost in 2021 in favor of the PP after a motion of no confidence in this party with Vox.

The results obtained in 2019 allowed it to be part of about twenty local governments in other towns, some of which have been outgoing during the legislature until closing with 17. To date, it is represented in almost 90 local corporations in the region.
