The opposition of the Mataró City Council regrets the silence in the Antifraud case

All of the opposition spokespersons in the Mataró City Council (Maresme), who have an absolute majority, half plus one of the councillors, regret the silence imposed by the municipal government (PSC-Mataró En Comú) on the case of the processes of selection and provision of jobs investigated by the Anti-Frau Office, as revealed by this newspaper at the end of last year.

In addition, Antifrau is also investigating the fact that the government led by David Bote had fired the complainant, an architect who denounced the irregularities, despite having the status of a protected witness as it was a case of alleged corruption.

The opposition councilors denounce that the Special Information Commission announced by the Mataró government to "make the Human Resources policy transparent in the processes of selection and provision of jobs" has met only once and "after 20 days" All the representatives of the opposition, ERC, Vox, PP, Junts and CUP regret not having received the documentation required by the aforementioned commission and "without having received a reasoned or coherent explanation for the delay" despite the information that emerged in the media. Communication.

For all these reasons, they request the first deputy mayor and president of the Special Information Commission. Miquel Àngel Vadell, to promptly send the required documentation and to proceed to call an emergency meeting within a maximum of five days.

The Antifraud investigation focuses on the case of a municipal architect who reported to the aforementioned organization possible irregular cases of contracting by hand, that is, without following the usual route of prior competition. This same worker was dismissed despite her protected status for being a whistleblower in a possible corruption case. These facts have been known since the end of last year, and the City Council has created a commission with members of all municipal groups to clarify whether the municipal entity has hired irregularly. The commission met for the first time in January.

Although Antifrau maintains the file against the Mataró City Council for having violated the "protected" status of the complainant, the second file, which concerns the workplace, has been referred to the Mataró Prosecutor's Office, to initiate the appropriate investigation. .
