The Més x Barcelona platform, which took its first steps a year ago, hung a banner in summer that read "I'm looking for a mayor" in Plaça Lesseps and in November presented 50 proposals for change in the city, it will support Xavier Trias in the municipal elections on May 28.
The organization already gave up running for the elections last March so as not to fragment the opposition vote to the current municipal government, headed by Ada Colau, and has now decided to go further and after several conversations lends its support to the candidacy of Trias , which will endorse 48 of the 50 measures proposed by the platform, although there have been amendments to 12.
According to the spokesperson for Més x Barcelona, Lluís Tusell, Trias's candidacy meets the requirements that they put on the table: guaranteeing a change in the city mayor's office, focusing on improving the management of the city and recovering the confidence of citizens and bet on a model of sustainable growth.
The convergent former mayor, for his part, stresses that this pact "reinforces the commitment to transversality" of his project, to which he has also joined PDECat, Demòcrates de Catalunya and the Moviment d'Esquerres formation. The resignation of Més x Barcelona joins Sandro Rosell's at the beginning of the year, and all these disenchanted sectors have ended up coming together to support the former mayor.
