The Civil Guard identifies Rovira as the "political coordinator" of Tsunami

The Civil Guard delivered a report on Thursday – the same day that the PSOE and ERC signed their agreement for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez – in which the general secretary of the Republicans, Marta Rovira, is identified as a “political coordinator” of Democratic Tsunami, the platform that was allegedly behind the riots in Catalonia after the judgment against the leaders of the process was made public in 2019.

In the 202-page report to which La Vanguardia has had access, the armed institute obtains all the information it considers relevant about Rovira's participation in the organization of Tsunami. The affidavit begins by explaining that she currently lives in Switzerland and that "with a high probability" she is the user of the encrypted messaging application Threema with the pseudonym Matagalls, a reference to the peak chosen by Rovira in the pro-independence campaign "Peaks for Freedom". Today there is only one lawsuit against her for disobedience by the trial judge Pablo Llarena and for which no prison sentence is even claimed.

The Civil Guard delivered this report during full PSOE negotiations with the Catalan independence parties to approve an amnesty law that includes this cause. The agreement on this issue is that all those investigated, prosecuted or convicted of terrorism who do not involve injuries or blood as part of the Catalan process will be amnestied, from January 1, 2013 until the day it is published the law, and always in cases linked to the consultation of 9-N and 1-O. This favors both the cause of Tsunami and that of the CDR, which continues in the National Court for terrorism.

Precisely yesterday, the Criminal Chamber of the National Court confirmed the opening of the oral trial against twelve members of the CDR, arrested after the so-called Judas operation, carried out in September 2019 against a group of people that the magistrate linked to the so-called " Tactical Response Team" (ERT), a cell made up of individuals from several CDRs "with great radicalism and who sought, through violence, to achieve the independence of Catalonia".

When the amnesty law comes into force, these two cases will be annulled. In the case of Tsunami, today the judge of the National Court that investigates this case, Manuel García-Castellón, does not formally have Rovira under investigation, although in the coming days he will have to make a decision on her inclusion in the cause and whether it should continue due to terrorism or public disorder. If the amnesty is finally approved, he can raise a question of unconstitutionality before filing the case.

According to the Civil Guard, the user Matagalls carried out tasks of "coordination" of the Democratic Tsunami movement in terms of the search for "institutional support and his political party". According to the report, Rovira would be in charge of obtaining support from a corporation in which both Xavier Vendrell, a former member of the Parliament, and she are members "which, in all probability, is ERC".

The agents explain that Rovira would have participated in the October 1 referendum, where he acted with "abuse of position. In his opinion, following the ruling of the Supreme Court by which nine leaders of the process were convicted for a crime of sedition, "he also had to 'abuse his position' to bless Democratic Tsunami in front of the organizations".

The researchers point out that this movement did not arise "spontaneously, but was the result of a carefully planned strategy" to protest against the sentence of the trial court issued in October 2019. A platform that, according to the Civil Guard, "served as a destabilizing element and political pressure through large-scale social mobilization".

The report states that the Democratic Tsunami roadmap consisted of the execution of "large-scale actions" that mobilized thousands of people and that "compromised the economic, social, business and institutional stability of Spain" . According to the Civil Guard, with the riots in Catalonia in the days following the sentence, there were times when the physical integrity of Catalans was put at risk.

Likewise, it quantifies the alleged economic damages that caused the damage caused. The blockade of Barcelona airport caused losses of 2.19 million euros, while the cut of the AP-7 in La Junquera amounted to half a million euros, and the action during a game in Camp Nou quantifies it at 85,304 euros.
