The Business Confederation of the Valencian Community (CEV) yesterday positively assessed the list of measures in fiscal matters that the future government of the Popular Party and Vox will carry out when they form the Consell. Although he assumes that we will have to see how the measures are carried out, from the CEV they welcome the fact that the agreement includes "unavoidable" initiatives for them, such as improving regional financing, the repeal of the tourist tax or the elimination of inheritance taxes and donations and patrimony. They also welcome the proposal to launch a strategic plan for tourism, but they miss "express support" for the industry, in reference to the ceramic sector and the gas industry.
After reviewing the text, the Valencian employers' association insists that the promotion of public-private collaboration is important, "of which no reference is made", and they point out that measures are not contemplated to attract investment, vocational training and the training for employment.
More critical is the UGT-PV union, whose general secretary Ismael Sáez pointed out yesterday that "practically the entire program" is missing. Regarding the fiscal measures, Sáez was not surprised by the fiscal policy -already announced in the campaign-, but he did wonder "how the new Consell is going to square the circle, if they say they will lower taxes." He also questions the percentage announced - the program says that the health budget will increase to 30% of the total - because he remembers that "if taxes are lowered and collection decreases, a smaller amount will affect that 30%."
The union official also recalled that the Valencian Community is one of the regions in which the lowest incomes already paid less and wondered "if there is room to lower them without jeopardizing fundamental public services."
Regarding water policy, the CEV also welcomed the fact that the text includes the National Water Pact, as we remember that in the middle of the campaign the president of CEV Alicante, Joaquín Pérez, called for "a state water pact that ensures citizens the amount of water necessary for the social well-being and socio-economic development of the province and the Community".
On the other environmental issues, the agricultural sector also spoke yesterday, initially satisfied with the points of the program. "We are satisfied with the account of the proposals that affect us, although we will analyze them later," the general secretary of La Unió Llauradora i Ramadera, Carles Peris, confirmed to this medium yesterday.
Peris hopes that the new Minister of Agriculture designated, and who will come from Vox, will have an "agrarista" profile - "it is what we would like", he qualified. In the list of measures, included in the heading 'Rural world, water and heritage' of the program, includes the idea of protecting farmers "with special attention to pests and prices"; as well as to defend agricultural production before Brussels against unfair competition, among other measures.
For their part, from AVASA-ASAJA they affirm that "although some of the points of this agreement mention the agricultural sector, it is still early to be able to assess them". Its president, Cristóbal Aguado, assures that once the person in charge of Agriculture is named, they will meet with her to convey their demands and, yes, hoping that these points translate into commitments. "Yes, we hope that common sense prevails and that the person they put in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture is an expert in the matter and knows the sector," they added.
In its electoral program, Vox defended "the expulsion of illegal immigrants who increase insecurity." In the government agreement with the Popular Party, both formations undertake that the Generalitat Valenciana "within its powers" notify the State security forces of "possible cases of illegal immigration, with special attention to organized mafias". .
Following this message, the citizen platform Movimiento Fuerza Migrante (MFM), made up of more than 50 social entities from the Valencian Community, yesterday urged the Popular Party to “shield” social rights and intercultural coexistence during the next legislature.
They defend that it is "of vital importance to prevent discriminatory discourses and policies, contrary to human rights, from gaining ground and normalizing in the political sphere", since "this would jeopardize the progress achieved in the social sphere and the foundations of our democratic coexistence”.
And, without citing Vox, they asked the PP for protection, who they reminded that in their electoral program there were measures aimed at this group, reminding them that the migrant population already represents 15% of Valencian society.
