The irreverence of Cyndical Chamber and the proclamation for the state of the ozone layer of Eñaut closed the 32nd edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion yesterday. The Catalan catwalk brings down the curtain on days in which its character and philosophy have finally been consolidated. The director of 080 Barcelona Fashion, Marta Coca, said hours before the edition was closed that the growth, both in the audience and proposals, has been exponential compared to last year: "We are very satisfied. Without having the exact figures yet, we have had an average of 500 people per parade, therefore, we would be talking about 12,500 visitors over the course of these five days", he confirmed. The organization, he says, attributes this to the consolidation of a message clearly focused on sustainability, inclusion, upcycling and multidisciplinary fashion.
From Monday to yesterday, 24 creatives passed through Sant Pau's Modernist Center, including already iconic names such as Custo Dalmau, Lola Casademunt, Belén Larruy de Guillermina Baeza and Victoria Mitjans de Simorra, but also seductive debutants such as Cherry Massia and Carlota Barrera All of them, with a history and their own DNA, are great defenders of the values mentioned through the art of clothing.
This year's maxim is timelessness. Climate change has eliminated the seasons and so, from one year to the next, the seasons have been blurred in the wardrobes. Trenchcoats are worn with shorts, velvet dresses full of openings and leather jackets with thin tights to join the no-pants trend that has hit the streets.
The tailored suit has become the uniform par excellence of a generation that, if there is one thing that is clear, is that clothing does not understand gender. The eternal two-piece deconstructs and adapts to all kinds of silhouettes in addition to being considered as an all-terrain wardrobe.
Climate urgency and its inseparable link with the fashion industry were personified on this catwalk through proposals such as those of All That She Loves, faithful to local and sustainable production, to the dresses of Amlul, which works with textile surplus and the perforated pieces of Eñaut, representing the ozone layer. "Sometimes we abuse the word sustainability. Despite this, there is more and more awareness", he said backstage.
But fashion is also about playing and having fun and that is why the brilliance has been one of the highlights of this catwalk. Guillermina Baeza sprinkled it in a swimwear collection that paid tribute to the firm's golden decade, the nineties, and transported the guests to sunny California with cowboy hats and bold bikinis. "We have created a bathroom for all moments of the day, which in an innovative way becomes part of looks beyond the beach", he commented backstage. Lurex fabric and metallics prevailed in other shows, such as that of Custo Barcelona, Lebor Gabala and Lola Casademunt, which dedicated its spring line to the wild Ruta 66.
