Prohens announces a reduction in personal income tax and will stop paying 45 million in 2024

The Balearic Islands will include a reduction in personal income tax in all income brackets in next year's Budget. The Balearic president, Marga Prohens, has reported that incomes of less than 30,000 euros will have a reduction of half a point and those above 0.25 points. The measure will mean savings of around 45 million euros. The average savings for each beneficiary will be around 120 euros.

This reduction is complemented by other tax measures that are already in force, such as the elimination of the property transfer tax for those under 30 years of age and the reduction of this tax by half for those under 35, large families and single parents. As soon as he arrived at the Government, Prohens, of the PP, announced the abolition of the inheritance tax. In total, it will stop earning about 120 million euros.

Tomorrow the Balearic Islands Government Council will approve the accounts for next year, which will be around 7.3 billion euros. Despite these tax cuts, Prohens will have around 400 million more than her predecessor in office thanks to the increase in income derived from the financing system, which is growing significantly.

The 'popular' leader will maintain the wealth tax for now, but her commitment is to annul it throughout the legislature. There will be no changes in the tourist tax and it will remain at the same levels set by Francina Armengol, although the law will be changed so that these income are allocated exclusively to tourist and environmental projects.

Tomorrow the Government will detail the accounts, which it has been able to approve after reaching an agreement with Vox to implement the free choice of language in classrooms. Vox kept the budget blocked, by not supporting the spending ceiling, until it made a commitment from Prohens to implement free choice of language in classrooms starting next year.

The accounts will include an item for the free choice of language, although the president has acknowledged that it will be an approximation since it is unknown how many educational centers will join the pilot plan since it is voluntary. In any case, Prohens has specified that the budget for education increased compared to this year.
