PP and Vox make a gesture to À Punt and assume the VAT so as not to degrade the programming

Ten years after the forced and live blackout of Channel 9, PP and (surprisingly) Vox - which at the time advocated the closure of regional television - have presented an amendment for the "assumption by the Generalitat of the greatest tax obligations that have arisen." of the Valencian Media Corporation and the Societat Anònima de Mitjans de Comunicació de la Comunitat Valenciana". A circumstance that will allow À Punt to maintain current contracts and investments in programs, series and contests.

The presentation of the Budget project of the Generalitat Valenciana had set off all the alarms in the television management and in the audiovisual sector who saw how one of the engines would seize up if it was not remedied.

In fact, the Governing Council - the chain's highest governing body - had ordered to reserve 11.5 million euros from its budget to be able to face the payment corresponding to 2024 of the non-deductible VAT of the Corporation (CVMC) and the Company. (SVMC). A reservation that left investment in external production to a minimum and that, as this newspaper reported, would fully affect the entire grid except the news programs.

Along these lines, the president of the Valencian Academy of Audiovisual (AVAV), Teresa Cebrián, demanded a rectification from the PP and Vox deputies a few days ago that would avoid "the destruction of thousands of jobs and practically make the an industry that has taken years of effort and struggle.

A rectification that has come in the form of an amendment to relieve television and the sector. The text agreed upon by the two Government partners states that "the Generalitat assumes the burden of the tax debt and interest from previous years, as well as the obligations derived from the current year of the value added tax" of both the Corporation and the Company "derived from regulatory modifications or changes in interpretation of the corresponding tax administrations."

In this sense, it is added that "the bodies responsible for treasury and the public sector of the Generalitat will authorize treasury operations and adopt the rest of the measures necessary to comply with the provisions of this article, respectively."

A proposal that the Presidency worked on directly and that was in the air until the last moment, despite the fact that, as La Vanguardia reported, the sector and the À Punt unions were quite optimistic in the hours before the deadline for submitting proposals closed. amendments to the budgets.

This initiative serves to reinforce the idea that the Presidency already launched yesterday in this newspaper regarding the future of television. The new government's plans do not include closures or privatizations and today's gesture - in the form of amendments - is along these lines.
