Podemos attributes the "tragedy" of the progressive block to the "lack of courage" of the PSOE

The spokesman for Unidas Podemos in the Congress of Deputies, Pablo Echenique, stated this Monday "as a preliminary analysis" of yesterday's regional and municipal elections, that "the result of the progressive bloc as a whole is a tragedy" and it is due to the fact that "There has been a lack of drive and courage when it comes to governing", which is the reproach that his formation has always made to the PSOE.

In statements to TVE, Echenique acknowledged that the results are “very negative, bad without palliatives; and, what is more important, the result of the whole of the progressive bloc is a tragedy”. When asked about the possible causes, the parliamentary spokesman clarified that only "as a preliminary analysis" and in the absence of more in-depth studies, he reflected: "We think that if the progressive bloc as a whole had had more courage when it came to expanding rights If we took courageous steps to improve people's lives, we surely would not have reached this point. There has been a lack of drive and courage when it comes to governing.”

Once again, Echenique downplayed the discrepancies within the Government, because "discrepancies in coalition governments always exist, by definition," and they cannot be avoided. "What can be avoided is taking measures that do not solve the structural problems, measures that fall short," he pointed out. “Citizens expected a lot from this coalition government. The courage to go further has been lacking”.

The spokesman called for the eventual effect of 28-M on the coalition government "we must also ask the Socialist Party", but for his part he reaffirmed that "it is the best tool we have".

Looking ahead, Echenique promised: “We are not going to stop fighting. The blow has been hard but, from now on, we get to work to reverse the situation”. And, facing the hypothetical union with the Sumar of the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, "work with humility for unity", although she recalled that in these elections Podemos and IU reached more agreements with Izquierda Unida than ever.
