Madrid authorizes six macro parties on New Year's Eve and studies some more

The Community of Madrid has authorized five New Year's Eve macro parties in places that do not usually organize this type of events in the towns of Alcalá de Henares, San Agustín de Guadalix, Ajalvir, Cobeña, Ajalvir and Guadalix de la Sierra, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the Ministry of the Environment, Agriculture and Interior.

Specifically, it has been the General Directorate of Security that organizes this type of parties, already this year without any type of restrictions without the pandemic, which together total almost 8,000 people planned. In addition, it studies other macro parties, such as the one planned at the Novotel hotel in the capital.

In Alcalá, the macro-event will take place in the Ruiz de Velasco pavilion, where 4,275 people are expected to attend; in Cobeña at the municipal sports center, with 1,500 attendees; in San Agustín also at the municipal sports center, where about 1,100 people will attend; in Guadalix, in the municipal gym, for 500 people; in Ajalvir, in the municipal sports center, with a planned capacity similar to the previous one.

In addition, the Community of Madrid has approved another macro-party at the municipal sports center on Miguel Hernández Street in Griñón for 1,000 people, and is studying another one at the Novotel on O'Donnell Street in Madrid with an estimated capacity of 300 individuals. As well as some others whose request for authorization has arrived later.

Last year, macro parties with similar forums and locations were authorized in Ajalvir, San Agustín, Alcalá, Cobeña, Guadalix and finally also Griñón, located in the gym on Panete Street.

As explained by the Minister of Environment and Interior in Las Rozas, Carlos Novillo, these types of parties require specific approval from the Community of Madrid and the General Directorate of Security because "they are held in environments where they are not authorized throughout the entire the year and they do not have a license for that use because they are sports centers.

"We support them, of course, because we also understand that these young people from those localities do not have to travel to other places, but we are working precisely during this month with the city councils so that all the adaptations that a sports center must have are made safely. in terms of security, evacuation, fire protection, insurance, health care, etc.", he indicated.

Regarding those that are being studied, Novillo has stated that the latest documentation is being reviewed and this week they will give the organizers a response. "We hope they can be celebrated because if they are done in safe environments it also helps us limit those movements, which on New Year's Eve is one of the main problems we have from the point of view of emergency safety," he highlighted.

The counselor stressed that the last night of the year is one of the most complex from a traffic point of view. "We, of course, from the Emergency Security Agency, deploy all the available troops in terms of receiving calls, which will surely have an increase unlike other nights, but also rescue assistance, fire extinguishing and also from the point of view of collaboration with the Local Police so that it develops safely," he stressed.

The General Security Delegation must authorize these events as it is responsible for security and for the fulfillment of the activity proposed in the request. Regional regulations require authorization to be requested for extraordinary activities held on Halloween or Christmas parties such as Christmas Eve, Three Kings Eve or New Year's Eve, among others.

The regional government limits itself to authorizing or denying those events that are to be held in places whose municipal license does not enable public shows or recreational activities because where it is enabled, it is up to the City Council. That is, macro parties in places licensed for this type of event do not have to request anything.

As in previous years, and as occurs in events with a significant influx of people, the Community of Madrid calls for the prudence of Madrid residents, appealing to the exercise of a healthy and responsible enjoyment of the celebrations that take place on the last night of the year, and the rest of the calendar.

In this sense, Madrid residents are invited to exercise extreme caution during celebrations in closed spaces, avoiding abuse in the consumption of alcoholic beverages and substances, intake whose uncontrolled use can lead to an increase in risk situations in general and, in general, particularly, accidents on the road.
