Letícia opens the summer in Palma

Letícia is in Palma, there is no doubt. Last night, like the last two summers, the Queen opened the official holiday period with a film appearance, after presiding over the closing and award ceremony of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest. Queen Letícia, with her daughters, Princess Eleonor and Infanta Sofia, arrived on Saturday in Marivent, where the King was waiting for them, who arrived on Wednesday.

Like the King, the Queen began her stay on the island surrounded by authorities, which reinforces the official character of the royal holidays. Last night, the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, was there with Letícia; the president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, and the president of the Council of Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, in addition to the director of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest, Jaume Ripoll, a good friend of the Queen, renowned cinephile.

From today, private events will alternate, although of a public nature, such as the King's participation in the Mapfre King's Cup regattas and, the only official event planned: the presence of the Kings and Queen Sofia at the reception that will be offered on Thursday in the Marivent gardens to the Balearic authorities and civil society. Unlike other years, in which occasional appearances were guessed, in private activities such as dinners or visits to street markets, as well as the usual family photo in some emblematic place on the island, this summer has not transcended what it will be the impact or the duration of the presence of the Kings and their daughters in Mallorca. Everything seems to indicate that the stay in Marivent will be short and the Kings and their daughters will leave the island in just over a week.

The King, in addition to following the evolution of the political situation after the 23-J elections, will go to Paraguay on August 14 to attend the inauguration of the new president, and Princess Eleonor will enter at the Zaragoza military academy on the 17th.

The King arrived in Marivent, where Queen Sofia and Princess Irene of Greece have been since July 20, on Wednesday night, two days before Leticia and her daughters. On Thursday, after receiving the new Balearic authorities, the King met with a group of friends on board a pleasure sailboat, while on Friday and Saturday he took the opportunity to train with the rest of the crew of the ' Aifos for his participation in the regattas that start this Monday. Yesterday Sunday the Aifos returned to the sea, but the King did not get on board; from this it follows that he spent the day with the Queen and her daughters.
