JxCat stands as a guarantee that ERC "does not throw away the 1-O votes with the dialogue table"

The independence flag is still present but it is not being the protagonist in the electoral campaign of the municipal elections of May 28 as it had been in previous contests; in many cases it is part of the understandings or it is one more item because the management has passed ahead. But after the midpoint of the campaign, the independence struggle between the main sovereigntist families has awakened, as if it were a sleeping beast.

The general secretary of Junts per Catalunya, Jordi Turull, at the central meeting of the formation, held this Sunday in Manresa -in 2019 Esquerra won JxCat by just a dozen votes-, has assured that opting for Junts is the guarantee of that the Republicans "do not throw away the votes of 1-O with their dialogue tables and the clarity agreements". Turull's words come after the president of Esquerra Republicana, Oriol Junqueras, insinuated yesterday that any Junts ballot in the Barcelona metropolitan area was a "thrown away" pro-independence vote. Now the box of thunder is already open, especially in certain places, such as Girona or Manresa, and the battle is already being fought on all fronts.

After praising the post-convergent candidate from the capital of Bages, Ramon Barcardit, Turull remarked that "May 28 is also used for something else, to send a very clear message to those there, to the sewers of the State, to the patriotic police , to those in togas and to the deluded gravediggers of the process, and to some from here, that Catalonia has not given up on its path to independence".

"It is also a message to some here [ERC] that yesterday I don't know what they were saying, that it was throwing the vote away. Any vote from anyone deserves our full respect for democratic conviction, even if we don't like it," he said. continued the leader of JxCat, who has blamed the Republicans on the dialogue table with the central government and their proposal for a clarity agreement, a path that the Parliament already dismissed in the last general policy debate in the votes of the resolutions.

"The vote for Junts is the guarantee so that some here do not throw the 1-O votes into the bin with their dialogue tables and with their clarity agreements", Turull has sentenced. "As long as there is injustice and repression, and as long as there is exile and a majority of people who voted for 1-O, we will continue to stand up," said the president of JxCat, Laura Borràs, who has claimed Junts as Carles' party. Puigdemont –in Manresa, in the European elections, four years ago the former president was the most voted by far, the same day that there were municipal elections–.

In her speech, the leader has also targeted the Republicans. After alluding to the recent resolution of the UN Human Rights Committee on the violation of the right to political participation of the former president of the Generalitat, Puigdemont, he has criticized ERC for its suspension as a member of Parliament last July hand in hand of the Socialists and has ensured that their political rights were "violated". "There are pro-independence parties that are allied with the PSC to violate the rights of deputies," she stated. "Spanish democracy is always late, it goes on a Rodalies train", she has highlighted in relation to the UN opinion.

Likewise, he has put the PSC in the spotlight and has made reference to the adjusted campaign of Barcelona. "Now they show that they [the socialists] have not been part of the municipal government of Ada Colau, they take us for amnesiacs and they want us to believe that they are the change, but they are the replacement because they will do the same," Borràs stressed.

In Manresa Junts aspires to govern with Barcardit and go over to the Republicans. In the last regional elections, in February 2021, the formation was prominently ahead of ERC.
