A resolution of the Zone Electoral Board (JEZ) of Arenys de Mar ordered yesterday the local grouping of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya de Pineda de Mar, formation in which the wife of the president Pere Aragonès, Janina Juli, occupies a place as a substitute in the electoral list, to exclude the acronym Junts per Pineda from electoral advertising during the campaign for the municipal elections of May 28.
The complaint filed by the political formation En Marxa-Junts per Pineda, which is part of the Junts per Catalunya party, criticized that the Republicans were making irregular use of acronyms that the post-convergents had registered.
The JEZ argues that the Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya-Junts per Pineda-Acord Municipal (ERC-JxP-AM) coalition includes the name of the political party registered with the same initials, Junts per Pineda, so there is the possibility of confusing the electorate, that "it can reasonably be considered that the complainant political formation is part of said coalition."
Once the claim was estimated, the JEZ informed ERC that, for the proclamation of the candidacy, it must modify its name excluding the initials Junts per Pineda. You have 48 hours to correct this problem.
In the absence of knowing if the Republicans will appeal the decision of the electoral body, sources from Junts per Pineda assure that they will not give in "before the arrogance demonstrated by the local section of ERC", which ignored "our requests and the burofax" in which they claimed not to use this denomination.
