Bicing suspends its strike after reaching an economic agreement

The workers of UTE Pedalem Barcelona, concessionaire of the public bicycle rental service in Barcelona, Bicing, have decided in an assembly to suspend the indefinite strike that they began eight days ago, according to reports from the majority union, CGT, and the company.

According to sources from this union, the workers' assembly ratified this Tuesday a pre-agreement and suspended the strike starting today, Wednesday at 7:00 a.m., which "until the full signing of the agreement will not be called off."

The same sources have explained that an economic agreement has been reached with the company and the "social part" of the collective agreement is still being negotiated.

The workers' representation has indicated that they have committed to "recover the Bicing service as soon as possible" which they anticipate "will be complicated" after 8 days of strike.

Pedalem, for its part, explained that the agreement was reached this afternoon after a mediation meeting so that, starting at 07:00 tomorrow, the service can be reactivated "progressively."

The company explains that, in the meantime, they are negotiating with union representatives to reach a preliminary agreement that will allow the signing of the collective agreement for the next five years to be unblocked.

The priority for Pedalem is to recover the service so that "Bicing users in Barcelona have the least possible effects."
