The electric mobility industry is boosting the activity of Elausa, a Vic company specializing in the manufacture of electronic components since 1988.

The company – controlled by Santiago Suñer, Salvador and Jaume Carné – has in recent years won projects for the German group Volkswagen and its electric vehicle platform, in which the Cupra, Skoda and Volkswagen brands participate. "We specialize in the manufacture of components for the interior of the car, especially lighting, ventilation and heating solutions", comments Josep Barceló, general manager of the company.

The company broke into the automotive sector eight years ago now with comprehensive original design projects for car manufacturers. Before, it was dedicated to the production of electronic boards for all kinds of industrial companies in the territory, from the medical sector to that of ventilation or industrial machinery. Today this business division accounts for nearly 40%, as 60% comes from projects commissioned by the German multinational Volkswagen.

With this business model, driven by the electrification of vehicles, the company is registering years of sales increases. This 2023 it plans to bring in 43 million euros, compared to 39 million euros the previous year, 34 million euros in 2021 and 27 million euros in 2020. Barceló assures that the business is profitable and that it registers a Ebitda margin (gross profit) that is around 5% to 10% of total revenue.

With a workforce of 290 people, the company has launched a growth plan that envisages doubling the current turnover within three years. Elausa hopes to continue leading projects linked to the electrification of vehicles, an industry that is in full swing due to the energy transition.

For this reason, the company plans to invest five million euros in the construction of a production plant, which will be launched in 2026 or 2027. The company will carry out this expansion plan with its own resources, without the input of industrial partners.

Apart from Elausa, the three partners promoted the company Array Plàstics in the nineties. Based in Fogueroles (Osona), this company specializes in plastic injections for industrial companies, as is the case of Elausa, a regular customer.
