The prison director made no money: Bought the properties for millions

A strip of properties thrown into in the case of a Danish director, that on the sixth week sitting in custody for suspicion of fraud with the vat refund for the 27 million. kr.

For though his technology firm has never had any significant revenue, it has bought four properties in cash for the total amount of 13 million. kr. the past two years. It displays the information in the CVR register and the land register.

It is a site to 9.5 million. kr. and a house to 650.000 kr. in the city of Nørager, a house in the town of Skørping to 900.000 kr. and a holiday home in Slettestrand at the North sea, to 2 million. kr.

'We are aware that there are bought some property. But the case is running for closed doors, so I can't tell so much more,' says Mette Vestergaard, prosecutor of North jutland Police, who last week managed to have extended the remand of the director with the four weeks. She informs that there is raised an additional charge in the case.

What is the tax refund?

Vat-registered businesses must put down 25 per cent. in the vat on top of the price of virtually all goods and services they sell – it's called the salgsmoms.

When businesses purchase goods or services, they pay also vat –it is the circumstances.

If the company's sales are greater than salgsmomsen in a period of time, will the Tax pay the difference. It is called tax refund or negative tax.

In several cases, we have seen that companies specify a residence for individuals, which far surpasses the reality. On the way, the company can wrongly receive millions of dollars from the TAX.

It has not been possible to get answers from the 69-year-old director on how the properties are financed, and what his technology firm in addition, with a milliondyrt cottage. But his lawyer, Jan Børjesson from DLA Piper, the information that the client considers himself innocent'.

- Company payments, including the purchase of property is financed with the company's free liquidity, writes the lawyer in an email to Ekstra Bladet.

however, There is nothing in the company's accounts, which suggest that there should have been cash to buy the four properties. According to the accounts there have not been any turnover since 2016. But the lawyer is not interested in deepening his response.

- We will stop here, see my previous mail. Accounts expresses the status on a particular date and only this, writes Jan Børjesson and suggests, thus, that there have been funds available, which you can't read in the accounts.

' the Accounts are a mess'
Ekstra Bladet has asked two experts to review the accounts in the jailed executive director of the company. But not even they can figure out how that is being able to afford to buy properties cash for 13 million. kr.

'There is virtually no turnover, so the actual operation can in any case not to finance any. But the accounts are generally a mess, and some of them are smaskforkerte. It is completely unclear as to what exactly is occurred,' says Frank Thinggaard, professor specializing in accounting at the University of Aarhus.

He notes that the imprisoned director has opted out of having an accountant to review the accounts. It is probably the reason that he's gotten away with that post among other things, staff costs as a revenue.

'It is unclear where the money comes from, but it is certainly not from the operation. I do not think that the accounts immediately makes sense,' says Ole Friis, associate professor specializing in accounting from the University of Southern denmark.

While the imprisoned director technology firm basically does not have earned any money on the operation, there has come money from a completely different source.

Since august, 2017 the company has received 15 million. kr. in support mainly from the European Commission's ' Horizon 2020-the programme for support of research and development.

the Money is earmarked for the development of a machine that is intended to be able to dispose of vindmølleblade in an environmentally and economically sustainable way. But it is unclear if the machine has been completed.

the European Commission's press service has not wanted to comment on the case opposite the Extra Leaf.
