The ordinary session of the February plenary session of the Valencia City Council has approved with the votes in favor of the government team (Compromís and PSPV), PP and Ciudadanos -Vox has abstained- the "correction of errors" of the related protected assets and spaces to sheds 2, 4 and 5 of the Marina de València.
As planned, the council has responded expressly to lower the protection of these spaces so that they can be used for projects such as the Lanzadera accelerator for innovative companies, by Juan Roig.
In recent days, he had planned the idea that the businessman could be tempted by other cities such as Barcelona and even Alicante, given "delays" by the Valencia City Council in processing the expansion of its facilities. A circumstance that caused a crossover of accusations between the partners of the Rialto Government and urged them to act quickly to avoid a possible transfer.
Despite this, Lanzadera sources have always indicated that his intention was to stay in Valencia. Now, with the changes in the protection of the sheds, provisionally approved by the City Council, that desire seems more feasible. These modifications must be submitted to the Territorial Urban Planning Commission of the Department of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility for final approval.
The approval is no surprise. Both the mayor of Valencia, Joan Ribó (Compromís), and the deputy mayor, Sandra Gómez (PSPV), had reiterated the will of the municipal government that the Marina de Empresas remain in the Marina de València.
A commitment to facilitate the expansion of the businessman's project that occurs at a time when Roig has been the object of harsh criticism from one of the parties that governs with PSPV and Compromís in the Generalitat, which has come to describe the president as Mercadona of "ruthless capitalist".
