The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested the aspiring agent of the Urban Guard of Barcelona accused of groping three of his companions. As La Vanguardia has learned, the arrest was carried out this Friday afternoon by the Internal Affairs Division of the Catalan police. The three victims have decided to file a criminal complaint for sexual assault and this has precipitated the individual's arrest. He will spend the night at the police station waiting to go to court.
The arrested man was taking the first basic training course at the Public Security Institute of Catalonia (ISPC) and three of his colleagues reported having been touched in their private parts. He took advantage of self-defense classes to exceed the limits of normal contact, they reproached. The complaint was communicated by a student to one of the academy instructors after feeling violated in one of the classes.
The ISPC then began an internal investigation in which two more victims appeared who denounced the behavior of their partner. Yesterday, the center informed the applicant that it was expelling him cautiously pending the decision of the investigation that the center intended to promote and that it will now be paralyzed as there is a criminal proceeding underway. The investigation will be assumed by the Internal Affairs Division of the Mossos.
The Urban Guard of Barcelona has offered maximum collaboration with the investigation and has suspended the benefit that the aspiring police officer received. The deputy mayor for security, Albert Batlle, and the director of the ISPC have been informed of the applicant's arrest. In April of last year, another student from the police school was arrested for having sexually abused four classmates during a dinner to celebrate the promotion. The center also pushed him away.
