A vehicle crashed into the emergency room of a medical center in the city of Austin, in the state of Texas. The car entered the emergency room at St. David's North Austin Medical Center and the driver died from the impact.

Officials at the Austin-Travis County Medical Center confirmed the event and reported that eleven people were initially injured. The subsequent balance reduced the figure to five.

The driver of the vehicle died after the impact while five others were injured to varying degrees and were treated by hospital services. Among the injured there are two minors and one of them is in critical condition.

"There is no threat to the general public," Austin police said after the incident in statements on social media reproduced by local media.

According to preliminary information, "with the details gathered at this time, this incident does not appear to be an intentional act," said the police, who have not given further details of the event.
