What care does hair need after age 50?

As we age, we witness many changes in our body. But the most obvious to the naked eye are the signs of aging in our skin – with the appearance of wrinkles, spots, loss of elasticity, sagging and dull tone – and in our hair. In the specific case of hair, once we blow out the 50 candles, it begins to be less shiny, loses body and volume, falls out more, and becomes more frizzy.

Part of the blame lies with hormones and, especially, the lower production of collagen, a protein that makes hair more nourished, flexible and resistant. All in all, our hair becomes thin, dull, dry and less abundant. To all this we must also add gray hair, which not only changes our hair to a grayish or whitish tone, but is also more prone to frizz, as it is more rigid.

To rejuvenate our hair, we can resort to certain haircuts that remain years old, such as midi hair or shorter cuts, bob or pixie style. Bangs are another ally when it comes to making us look younger, as they are casual and hide the wrinkles on the forehead. Of course, dyeing gray hair is another foolproof resource for a younger look. But apart from all this, there is a series of essential care for your hair once you turn 50.
