These are the cases in which you should not abuse coffee

Coffee is one of the most consumed drinks in the world. In Spain, according to the latest report from the Spanish Coffee Association (AECafé), 65 million cups are consumed daily. However, not everyone takes into account that this infusion is not for everyone or for any time of the day. Caffeine is a substance with stimulant effects that can vary its impact depending on the characteristics of its consumer.

The World Health Organization (WHO) considers that moderate coffee consumption, which can be up to 3 to 4 cups per day, is relatively safe for most adults. It can even have positive effects, since it contains nutritional substances such as potassium, selenium, calcium and magnesium.

But in pregnant women, a high intake has been associated with a greater presence of bleeding during pregnancy, as well as a low weight of the child at birth, since the metabolism of caffeine slows down and this substance remains circulating in the body. for hours, it can easily pass to the fetus.

There are people who develop heartburn or gastritis when drinking coffee. This is because the infusion can be a real irritant to the gastric mucosa and in these people it is recommended to avoid its consumption. Likewise, those who suffer from insomnia or have difficulty falling asleep should be especially cautious with consuming coffee and avoid consuming it in the afternoon and evening hours.

Experts also explain that high coffee consumption (more than 400 mg per day) can cause anxiety, digestive problems, muscle tremors, headaches, dependence and interference with calcium absorption. Additionally, excess caffeine can increase heart rate and blood pressure. The recommendation is to drink it moderately and avoid accompanying it with sweeteners, creams or high-fat milk.
