'The friend reunited' becomes theatre

Joan Arqué confesses that the novel L'amic retrobat, by Fred Uhlman, struck him. He discussed it with Òscar Balcells, from the Teatre de l'Aurora, and also with Josep Maria Miró, who immediately made them a dramaturgical proposal.

The theatrical version of this reference novel, which Arqué directs, premiered at the theater in Iguala, but the pandemic blocked its way.

Now, the Goya takes over, and with a change in the cast (Max Grosse Majench replaces Joan Amargós) they bring back this universal story about the friendship between two young people who belong to two different worlds, during the rise of Hitler to power and all that will come.

Hans Schwarz, played by Ávila as a young man and by Martínez as an older man, is the son of a Jewish family, and Konradin von Hohenfels, played by Grosse, is the son of an aristocratic Swabian family.

"In times of conflict - declares the director - it is good to be clear about the values, such as that of friendship, that must remain above. The friend found again is a theater of the power of the word, which pierces our soul and pierces our heart. A good friend told me that he would live there, within this work", he concludes.
