Dancing has been Sergio Bernal's way of communicating since he was little. Through movements, and with a lot of dedication, he learned to go from the aggressiveness of flamenco to the tenderness of the swan. The dancer now presents Being, a show in which he shows his insecurities and weaknesses, and in which he strips naked in order to show who he really is. He will do it for the first time in Catalonia on May 2 and 3 at the Victòria theater.

“In 2020 I wanted to give myself some time to get to know myself, go further in the performances and thus excite the public,” explains the artist, who has received the Forbes Award as one of the most influential people in culture in Spain. . “Just before the pandemic I left the National Ballet of Spain so I could focus more on a personal project I had in mind.” In this way, his dance company emerged together with the collaboration of the choreographer Ricardo Cue, with whom he has created this work, which is a fusion of the soul of flamenco with classical ballet and also contemporary dance.

“I wanted to use the playlist of my life. Thus, Beyoncé, Stromae and even Vivaldi's Four Seasons go hand in hand on the same stage. Without forgetting the national talent as is the case of the piece by Sílvia Pérez Cruz, which has a voice that penetrates you inside. I've always wanted to reach a younger audience, so the last scene is a kind of party. “It is a moment of dancing for everyone.”

Bernal, who has triumphed on stages around the world, such as London, Miami, New York, Rome and Tokyo, and who was nominated in the best classical performance category for The Swan at the United Kingdom National Dance Awards, anticipates that the The public will be able to enjoy an "intimate and personal tour", as he is willing to show each and every one of the emotions that have made him grow on stage and as a person.

“For me, culture not only has to be related to the great artists or the most cultured authors. It is about emotion, which is what manages to transport and touch the hearts of others,” she concludes.
