Just as girls and boys enjoy seesaws, hammocks and other entertainment in the squares of Lomas de Zamora, now the municipality also gives them a space to play with their pets: it installed more than 45 games for dogs in seven squares in different locations. of that district in the southern area of Greater Buenos Aires.
According to them, beyond the fact that in many cases, they live in houses that have a patio or garden, for pets the walk is a special moment in the day, and very necessary. These outings help them regulate their energy, socialize with other dogs and release stress, among other benefits.
For this reason, within the comprehensive remodeling plan for squares being carried out by the Municipality, they contemplated including exclusive spaces for dogs that are no longer reduced to a closed kennel, where they can run safely.
In this way, they installed more than 45 pet games in public spaces, which were also completely renovated. These are the Plazas Libertad, Odisa, Albertina, Recondo, Llavallol, Martel and Colón, which have a sector prepared to stimulate the learning and development of animals.
In addition, the Commune indicates that games serve to reinforce agility, improve hearing and smell, foster their bond with humans and other pets, release tension and improve the quality of sleep. In turn, they stimulate the physical and cognitive development of dogs.
There are games in the shape of bones, slides, tunnels, structures with a ramp to jump, spaces to run, climb, jump, challenges to cross and sectors to run.
“They are great, they allow us to play with our dogs outdoors or sit and drink mate while they have fun. I am very happy because I live with my partner in an apartment and we have two little dogs who really enjoy walks,” says neighbor Florencia Cabrero, who lives three blocks from Plaza Martel, in Banfield Este.
In addition to the games for animals, the renovated squares have new games for health, children's games, inclusive games, forestry, pergolas and sports playgrounds, since in recent months the commune renovated 15 squares in which it carried out infrastructure works to “improve recreation and leisure spaces.”
The renovations in the plazas also included the installation of irrigation systems; afforestation with native species; installation of sports fields and playgrounds; and placement of anti-shock rubber. Among the renovated public spaces are the Diego Armando Maradona Park (Fiorito), the Plaza San Martín (San José Oeste), and the Santa Catalina Park.
“The idea of beautifying the squares is to transform them into a meeting place for the entire community to enjoy. Improving green spaces means improving the quality of life of the residents,” they point out from the commune.
On the other hand, renovations were carried out in Plaza Turner (Ingeniero Budge), Plaza Nuestras Madres de Centenario, Plaza del Arroyo (Santa Catalina), Plaza del Barrio Odisa (Santa Marta), and Plaza Barrio Obrero (Lomas West). Likewise, inclusive games were placed in Plaza Joaco (Parque Barón), Plaza Colón (Temperley), Plaza Seca (Albertina) and Plaza Cabral (Centenario).
