Club Vanguardia members feel the magic of Chagall privately at the Palau Martorell

The Palau Martorell opened its doors on February 29 to twenty members of the Vanguardia Club and their companions to immerse themselves in the world of Marc Chagall, the Russian pictorial genius who built his own universe, in which, through his paintings and writings, everything is possible. The majestic building, built between 1886 and 1900 by Joan Martorell i Montells, was the perfect setting for this cultural evening.

Fèlix Bentz, co-founder of the Palau Martorell and president of the Real Cercle Artístic de Barcelona, welcomes the attendees, explaining the relationship of the Palau Martorell with the city of Barcelona and how it has evolved over time.

Attendees were divided into two groups to receive a private guided tour that began with a tour of the main themes that inspired the life and creation of the Russian artist, Marc Chagall. From his humble origins in Vitebsk, Belarus, where he was born in 1887, to his formative years in St. Petersburg and his subsequent move to Paris, Chagall was influenced by a unique combination of Jewish artistic traditions, Russian folklore, and the European avant-garde of the 20th century.

Many of his paintings were shown, marked by a surrealist style and vibrant use of color, portraying scenes of everyday life, often imbued with dreamlike and mystical elements. Chagall, through his art, explored universal themes such as love, religion and identity, capturing the very essence of the human experience on canvases that seem to vibrate with a life of their own.

After the guided tour, attendees were able to enjoy an aperitif with canapés and a glass of cava by the Belbo Group, with a delicious rice soufflé with anchovy and cottage cheese, a shrimp omelet tuille, an original foie cronut with caramelized apple and a cone with creamy sweet potato with kikos.
