This chicken and vegetable recipe originated in the northeastern part of the peninsula, specifically in Aragon, but it is believed that the term chilindrón began to be used because of a card game. The loser would be in charge of paying for the food, which they called by this name. The recipe became popular among neighboring regions such as Navarra, La Rioja or the Basque Country, becoming a very popular dish within Spanish gastronomy.
