The prestigious Drinks International magazine has revealed the 50 most admired wine brands in the world for 2023. Among those selected, Bodegas Protos and Vega Sicilia are the only two Ribera del Duero wineries in the prestigious ranking.
The choice comes from the hand of the jury made up of leading experts in the world of wine, including buyers, sommeliers, wholesalers, bar owners, Masters of Wine, writers and trainers from all over the world.
Not only that, but also to guarantee the reliability of the votes, none of the members of the jury are affiliated with any brand, thus ensuring that the results are free.
This is the thirteenth year that Drinks International has produced its definitive guide to the world's most admired wine brands. An interesting mix of Old World classics and ambitious New World producers.
Bodegas Protos has the premise of offering the highest quality, becoming a highly valued icon in international markets, as the brand is marketed in 100 countries on five continents.
Thanks to its new facilities designed by the prestigious Priztker Prize-winning architect Sir Richard Rogers, it is once again at the forefront of the wine and wine tourism scene, becoming the most visited winery in the Ribera del Duero and the first to national level in obtaining the certificate of "brand of excellence" by the prestigious international organization Superbrands. In addition, in 2013 it was selected as "Winery of the Year" by the American magazine Wine and Spirits.
The inclusion in Drinks International has been accompanied in 2023 by recognition in the famous American magazine Wine Enthusiast, one of the three most important American magazines in the sector that has awarded more than 90 points to three wines from the winery.
A recognition that gains value if we take into account that Wine Enthusiast is a reputable magazine specialized in telling the latest trends in everything related to wine, spirits, food, travel and entertainment topics.
Specifically, the award-winning wines have been Finca El Grajo Viejo 2019 with 96 points; Protos'27 2020 with 93 points and Protos Crianza 2019 with 92 points. Every year, the team of critics tastes more than 24,000 wines from all over the world. The analysis of the wines is based, above all, on the aging of the wine, as well as its value for money.
