About fifteen weapons worn by the Baron de Ribelles have been restored

The Archeology Laboratory of the University of Lleida (UdL) has completed the restoration of a set of weapons from the collection of the Baron of Ribelles, which has been guarded by the Institute of Ilerdenc Studies (IEI) of the Provincial Council of Lleida since the 1950s. These are about fifteen swords and sabers, as well as a helmet, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The IEI technician, Montse Macià, explained that the state of conservation of the pieces was not adequate, and that is why they commissioned the UdL to carry out the restoration treatments.

Once restored, Macià has said that they want to make them known through the entity's online archive and, later, display them in an exhibition that would make it possible to disseminate "the evolution of science and technology with respect to these elements."

The restored elements are part of the historical collection of weapons of the Provincial Council of Lleida and were made with different materials, such as steel, iron, wood or brass threads. They have a diverse origin, from the Toledo sword factory to the German city of Solingen.
