Zara launches a second-hand platform that plans to compete with Wallapop

The Inditex company seeks to expand its empire through the 'Zara Pre-Owned' platform, a second-hand clothing buying and selling service that seeks to compete with renowned companies such as Vinted or Wallapop.

This new project by Amancio Ortega is already underway in countries such as the United Kingdom and France and, as confirmed by the CEO of Inditex Óscar García Maceiras, it will arrive in Spain "in the coming months."

The application works like any conventional platform for buying and selling second-hand products. Each registered user will be able to upload clothing or accessories to the app in a simple and intuitive way. Next, Zara will check the condition of the garment in question.

The application will validate or not the garment for sale and will be published with photographs of the product, description, size and price set by the user. All products will be organized according to categories – men, women, kids – and product types.

With this, Inditex has committed, in its firm commitment to sustainability, that by 2025 the second-hand platform will reach all of the group's 'core' markets, as announced by the CEO of Inditex.
