What would happen if a fan of the movie Titanic got together on Leonardo DiCaprio's birthday? This question was asked by actress Kate Beckinsale and she clarified any unknowns with her stellar appearance at the Hollywood star's 49th anniversary party.
Both coincided as protagonists in the film directed by Martin Scorsese, The Aviator, and since then they became great friends. So much so that, almost twenty years later, DiCaprio wanted Beckinsale to be present on such a special day.
The actress did not want to go unnoticed and made several nods to her films through her peculiar wardrobe. A black minidress decorated with three chains of crystals on the neckline and a large three-dimensional sapphire-shaped gem that surrounded her waist. To finish off her look, she wore heels with go-go platforms and placed a large black bow on her head.
For fans of the movie Titanic, it was inevitable not to associate Beckinsale's enormous sapphire with the most famous necklace in the movie, the Heart of the Sea. If it weren't for the fact that the one in fiction was heart-shaped, the similarity between this specimen and the one Kate Winslet wore would be abysmal.
Others said that the interpreter's costume was referring to the square sapphire necklace that DiCaprio's character, Howard Hughes, gives to Beckinsale's character, Ava Gardner, in the film The Aviator. In the film, she declines the gesture, saying, “I'm not for sale.”
