The waiter who died in the Madrid restaurant fire was in the casting of 'Operation Triumph'

A couple of days ago one of the worst misfortunes in the recent history of the Madrid capital took place. The events occurred at the Burro Canaglia restaurant located in the Manuel Becerra square in Madrid when they finished cooking a pizza at the client's table with a blowtorch. Due to the strength of the flame and the proximity to the decoration on the ceiling, the fire ignited part of the artificial vegetation in the premises, since the entire ceiling was covered by these plastic plants.

The event occurred at one of the tables near the exit and the fire began to spread by leaps and bounds in a matter of seconds. Due to the force of the flames and the thick black smoke, dozens of people were trapped inside the premises.

Finally, the terrible incident left two young people dead: Alexandra V.S., a 43-year-old customer of the premises, and Julián R.A., a 25-year-old waiter who had been working in the restaurant for a week. In addition, the fire also left ten injured, one of them in critical condition.

One of those who died as a result of the incident, the young waiter who had been working for the restaurant chain for a few days, was known to the general public for his participation in the casting of Operación triunfo 2020, where he reached the last phase under the name Jay Oak trees.

Julián Robles arrived in the Madrid capital pursuing his dream of becoming a successful artist and being able to dedicate himself to his great passion (music) for the rest of his life. While trying to achieve his goal, the young man from Benidorm earned a living as he could, in this case as a waiter.

Jay Robles, as he called himself, reached the final casting of the final contest of Televisión Española thanks to his urban style and his great commitment to music, something that inevitably fell in love with the panel of judges of the musical contest.

The young man's father spoke to the Four a Day program and assured that this tragedy could have been prevented and demanded a thorough investigation: "It's a shame that it went this way when I think it could have been avoided. We are exhausted, we are not going to bring him back to life, but that justice be tried to prevent something similar from happening.

For its part, the restaurant chain released a statement, a brief text that fell short for the families and for all those affected by the tragedy: "From the Burro Canaglia team we are deeply moved by the death of the victims of the fire occurred last night at the premises of Manuel Becerra, Madrid. Through this statement we extend our most sincere condolences to the families affected and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
