The strategy that the defense of Daniel Sancho has up his sleeve to avoid the death penalty

The murder of Edwin Arrieta at the hands (allegedly) of the Spanish chef Daniel Sancho continues to arouse great social interest in our country, which is why the case continues to occupy headlines and broadcast minutes on television programs.

The situation of the defendant, who has been in provisional detention for 21 days, does not seem very positive, since the police explained, after finishing an initial investigation, that there was more than enough evidence to ensure that it was a premeditated murder and that the death penalty would be requested for Daniel Sancho.

After several weeks waiting for the police report of the investigation, the Cuatro En boca de todos program has exclusively revealed that the lawyers for the son of actor Rodolfo Sancho are preparing a new strategy to address the final phase of the investigation and present new witnesses and tests.

As revealed in the Mediaset España program, the defense of the alleged perpetrator of the crime is trying to gather testimonies from people who were with the accused during the days prior to the murder of the Colombian surgeon. Clara Murillo, the program's special envoy to the Thai island, explained that Sancho has received a visit from his lawyer today and that they know first-hand that two of the new witnesses that the defense wanted to present are already in the Asian country ready to declare: "We know that at least two of those witnesses would already be here, on this island."

In addition, the young reporter has explained to the audience of the Cuatro program that the Prosecutor's Office would have requested new expert evidence and that this would be one of the reasons why the final report that they have been waiting weeks for would not be ready, since the investigation is still open .

Thai police have already used up 21 days of the 84 they have to investigate. As they have explained in the current affairs space, the Prosecutor can wait up to two months to obtain said report and then it will be the Court who sets a date for the trial, which will be held, most likely, at the end of 2023 or even at the beginning of 2024.

This change in legal strategy is due, in part, to the arrival of the media lawyer Marcos García Montes, who has decided to make a series of key decisions to change the course of the process.

It must be made clear that Khun Anan is the lawyer handling the case and the one who is defending Sancho in Thailand, but he is actively collaborating with the legal team in Spain and is maintaining frequent contact with García Montes and his office. .
