Since the aristocrat died in a car accident, millions of people around the world have tried to get their hands on some of her most iconic clothes through auctions and bidding. Last Thursday, September 14, a sales record for any garment worn by Lady Di was broken.

The bright red wool sweater with a black sheep that the princess wore in 1981 was auctioned for the incredible amount of 1.1 million dollars, approximately 1 million euros. The sale of said garment has caused a stir on social networks, since this is the most valuable sweater that has ever been awarded at auction, as confirmed by the house Sotheby's (which undertook the sale) to the EFE agency.

The controversial sweater was worn by Princess Diana of Wales during a polo match played by Prince Charles in June 1981, just a few weeks before her wedding.

On the same day that the jersey auction took place, a black and white dress designed by Murray Arbeid that Lady Di wore on several occasions in 1985 was sold for $380,000.

The first time she wore it was to celebrate Prince Edward's 21st birthday in June of that year, and a few months later she wore it to the Worshipfull Company of Fanmakers banquet.
