The Prince Louis show: from his yawns to his gestures of curiosity

The youngest of the princes of Wales, Luis, 5 years old, is used to becoming the center of attention wherever he goes. His gestures, his spontaneity and his childish pranks add a touch of color to the monarchical pomp. During the coronation of his grandfather, King Charles III, the little boy walked into Westminster Abbey, very formally, together with his sister Carlota and behind his parents, Guillermo and Catalina.

This is the first major event attended by the youngest of the three children of the heirs to the British crown, since he did not attend the funeral of his great-grandmother, Elizabeth II, in September.

Luis has endured stoically the two hours that the ceremony has lasted inside the abbey, although at some point he has been seen disappearing accompanied by his nanny, the Spanish María Teresa Turrión Borrallo, probably to go to the bathroom.

Although he has behaved more than correctly throughout the service, located between his 8-year-old sister Carlota and his mother, he has starred in moments that escape protocol. It is clear that the little one is growing and each time he behaves better. Unlike the Queen's Jubilee, where he delighted audiences with his brazen antics with his mother, this time Luis has remained silent during the service.

The image of the little boy that undoubtedly shows the spontaneity of a child is the one that he has starred in before entering Westminster Abbey. Luis, who was patiently waiting for his turn with his sister Carlota, could not help but let out a big yawn, a moment that he was captured by the photographers. Afterwards, he has calmly shaken his sister's hand to enter the church.

The photo of the big yawn begins to go viral on social networks. Even the British newspaper The Guardian has published the image with the following text: "I imagine that this photo will end up going around social networks and will appear on many souvenirs tomorrow, when Prince Louis gives his verdict on waiting to enter earlier in The abbey".

Inside the enclosure, he has been very curious, observing everything that surrounded him. At one point, he pointed out something that caught his sister Carlota's interest, radiant in white. Luis has dressed for his grandfather's special day in a navy blue tunic with lace trim and black pants. The garment has been made to measure by Savile Row tailors Dege and Skinner.

The young prince, who is fourth in line to the throne, has left the Abbey and has climbed into the carriage with his brothers and in front of his parents. From inside he has been greeting the citizens. The Welsh family have traveled back to Buckingham Palace in a carriage as part of the grand coronation procession.

Princess Catalina had commented days before that her children were excited about this day. "They're doing very well, thank you. They're excited but a little nervous, obviously, with the big day ahead. But they can't wait."

Jorge, Carlota and Luis are largely growing up out of the public eye, but do attend real events like Trooping the Colour, Easter and Christmas Sunday church services and of course last year's Platinum Jubilee events.

Luis is already known for his funny gestures. During the Platinum Jubilee, in June 2022, the great celebrations for the 70-year reign of Elizabeth II, the little boy starred in great moments. On the balcony of Buckingham Palace, he covered his ears as the planes flew overhead, made faces at the audience and even seemed bored at some point during the ceremony.
