Eurovision 2024 | Gala schedule, order of performance and where to see the first semifinal

The 68th edition of Eurovision begins with the celebration of the first semi-final. Up to 15 countries will seek a place for the grand final on May 11, which will be held at the Malmö Arena in Sweden. Only the host and five other countries, which make up what is known as the Big Five, will be exempt from this first exam: France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain.

Nebulossa has nothing at stake in the semifinals, but will perform in the second date, a decision that the contest has made so that viewers can learn about and become familiar with the song.

The singer Chanel, who won third place at Eurovision in 2022, will sing her famous SloMo again at the opening gala of the first Eurovision semi-final. The Spaniard will perform alongside Eleni Foureira (Cyprus), Eric Saade (Sweden), also contestants from previous editions.

The organization wants to send the message that it is not necessary to win Eurovision to be a winner. In fact, these three singers did not get first place but all of them have had successful musical careers.

Eurovision 2024 is presented as one of the most open editions in recent years. There is no clear favorite, although the Spanish representative starts with few options, according to the betting houses. This year is also marked by the controversial participation of Israel, amid protests over its attacks on the civilian population of Gaza.

The first semi-final of Eurovision 2024 will be held this Tuesday, May 7. Spain, being a member of the Big Five, is automatically qualified for Saturday's final, but 15 other countries are seeking their place for the big event. The performances can be seen starting at 9:00 p.m. on La 2 on TVE and on the RTVE Play platform.
