Juan Antonio Bayona is in one of his best moments on a professional level. The film director has seen how his latest film, The Snow Society, has been very well received and has been widely awarded. At the last Goya ceremony, held on February 20, the production won twelve awards. This Sunday, the film is nominated for two Oscars: in the category of 'best makeup and hairstyling' and 'best international film'. Without a doubt, this is very emotional news for Bayona, who is also in a good moment on a personal level.
As we said, the last Goya gala, held in Valladolid, was very special for everyone involved in the filming of The Snow Society. The production is the third most awarded film in the history of the awards, with a total of 12. Among them, Bayona won the best direction and celebrated it with a passionate kiss with her boyfriend, Alejandro Navas, 21 years younger than he. The two maintain a strong relationship, and that made many wonder who he is.
The truth is that the presence of the director's partner was not a coincidence. Alejandro participated in the film's costume team under the direction of Julio Suárez. In 2022, Navas worked as a wardrobe assistant during the five months of filming in Sierra Nevada. Later, he worked as a tailor in the last month of filming between Uruguay and Chile. It was a year later, in July 2023, when he was promoted to costume coordinator during post-production, which took place in Barcelona. That is why each victory was a joy for both of them.
As for Alejandro, it is known that he is from Alicante, although he moved to Valencia to train in fashion at the School of Art and Design. On the other hand, he is also a lover of Egyptian culture. With the aim of training in this area, he obtained a master's degree in Egyptology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. It is unknown how his relationship with Bayona began, who is a native of Barcelona.
It is not the first production in which Navas works. His resume includes titles such as the series If I Had Known, from Netflix, or the successful series The Crown, based on the history of the British Royal Family. After a lot of work, the young man achieved recognition thanks to this production by J.A. Bayonne.
