The reason why Rodolfo Sancho will not be present at the statement of his son Daniel

The third week of the trial of Daniel Sancho, accused of the murder and dismemberment of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta last August on the Thai island of Ko Pha Ngan, has ended ahead of schedule. Initially, Rodolfo Sancho's son was scheduled to testify this past Thursday, April 25.

But due to several power outages and the lack of air conditioning in the courtroom, the magistrates of the Koh Samui Provincial Court decided to suspend the session after the lunch break and the judicial process will not resume until next Tuesday, April 30 .

In this way, the procedure will begin its fourth week with the testimonies of several police officers who are witnesses for the defense, in addition to that of Rodolfo Sancho. For his part, the accused will testify before the judge next Wednesday, May 1, since it is not a holiday in the Thai administration.

However, the news related to the case does not stop and this Friday new information about the accused's father came to light. As confirmed by La Vanguardia, the actor Rodolfo Sancho will not be present at the statement of his son, scheduled for next Wednesday. The main reason for this decision is that the defense of the Spanish chef does not want both statements to be contaminated.

If everything continues as planned, the Spanish actor will testify in the Koh Samui Provincial Court next Tuesday. However, if his statement does not take place that day and he has to testify after his son, the defense wants the chef's father not to be present during the statement to guarantee the proper course of the procedure.

The judicial process, which began on April 9 and was scheduled to end on May 3, could be prolonged due to the delays that are occurring. Once the case is heard for sentencing, the verdict could be handed down by the two magistrates "between four and six weeks later," according to one of the prosecution lawyers hired by Juan Gonzalo Ospina's law firm.
