The 080 Barcelona Fashion gives space to new technologies

“Sustainability, diversity and feminism are already intrinsic values of 080 Barcelona Fashion and in the 33rd edition the novelty will be the commitment to new technologies and digital art,” says Agnés Russiñol, director of the Consorci de Comerç Artesania i Fashion, of the Generalitat in the presentation of the next 080 Barcelona Fashion, which will be held from April 9 to 12 in the modernist venue of Sant Pau.

A total of 24 brands and designers from all segments, from established to emerging, will show their new collections for next fall-winter or this spring-summer (See now, buy now). For this they will use the catwalk, although it will not follow a fixed route, but will be open – as was done in the last edition – so that the designers have freedom for their presentations.

But the novelty of this edition will be a multidisciplinary space, open to the public, in the Purísima pavilion. “Currently, fashion brands not only create and market products but also generate a lifestyle,” explains the head of the CCAM Fashion Area, Marta Coca. We want 080 to generate community so it cannot just be a fashion catwalk, but a space for new dialogues and forms of expression.”

080 Asthetics, as this new multidisciplinary space is called, will bring together internationally renowned artists whose common denominator is that they have been linked to the world of fashion. The exhibition is commissioned by the creative studio Misato Kindness, which brings together artists from different fields to explore and create stories, it will be accompanied by a musical program by a selection of DJs. “The objective is to present a space that offers the public a creative experience that combines art, music and technology with large-format screens,” adds Marta Coca.

On Tuesday the 9th, the first day of the catwalk, established brands such as Escorpion, Simorra, Hoss Intropia (which debuts at 080), Lola Casademunt by Maite and Sita Murt (which celebrates the centenary) will parade. On Wednesday the 10th it will be the turn of Larhha, Compte Spain, Martin Across, The Label Edition, Txell Miras and Jnorig. The third day will be opened by Free Form Style, the inclusive and adapted fashion brand, which parades as another brand of this edition, not as a guest. Afterwards, Guillermo Justicia, Lebor Gabala, 404 Studio, Velàsquez, Menchen Tomás and Dominnico will close. And the last day is scheduled for Avec Amour, Bielo, Ga Gó ó Studio, Habey Club, Eñaut (which after 10 collections will take a break on the catwalk) and will put an end to the 33rd edition of Custo Barcelona.

This edition of the 080 Barelona Fashion will have a public budget of 2,150,000 euros “which was already granted and therefore is not affected by the non-approval of the budgets,” clarifies Jordi Torrades, general director of Comerç. He also highlighted the importance of the 080 Barcelona Fashion fashion platform “to publicize brands and designers and for their subsequent internationalization.” Marta Coca concludes: “In the last edition, 50 media outlets were accredited, and now that there are more than two weeks left we already have 50, which means that interest in 080 is gradually increasing, which we want to be a fashion festival.”
