Sonsoles Ónega will spend the million euros of the Planeta prize on this

Sonsoles Ónega won the prestigious Planeta award in November for his novel The Maid's Daughters, a story that places the reader in a remote country house in Galicia. It is a fascinating family story, set at the beginning of the 20th century and that touches on a range of themes ranging from love to social class differences, including pain and destiny.

It is the seventh novel by the Atresmedia presenter, who received the award with great enthusiasm and revealed in an interview for ¡Hola! magazine. that, instead of spending the million euros on a gift for her, he planned to pay off some of her debts. “I haven't collected it yet, but I have a lot of debts and I will pay some off. What ninety percent of Spaniards owe are houses—I have a mortgage like everyone else—so I will try to plug the holes,” she explained exclusively for the gossip magazine.

For Sonsoles, the award has not been a birthday gift (he turned 46 this year), but rather he has earned it through hard work and dedication: "there is a lot of work, some sleeplessness and the sometimes tortuous path of literature "For me it is the conclusion of a stage, of a lot of years writing, thinking that each of my novels was going to be the last because I didn't know how the next one was going to start."

The journalist can assure that it is her most well-known and successful work, given that she has also confessed that there is an audiovisual production company interested in bringing the story to the big screen. "There is interest on the part of some production companies and I like that it happens, because it had never happened to me before with any book. I would love to see my characters on screen and learn how to make a script, but there is nothing yet," he continued in his interview with Hello!

Despite greatly enjoying his literary side, Sonsoles has confessed that he does not plan to leave his work on television and that he will continue with everything: "I am going to continue doing the same, we are making the tour compatible with the program. There is no Parenthesis for what it's worth, we're unfolding. This is a break from the routine. I'm used to getting up, reading the newspapers, spending the whole day on TV, returning home... With the Planet tour we've gone to Vigo, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Seville... It's a pleasure to be able to travel."
