Sonsoles Ónega breaks down before one of the toughest interviews of her career: "He says don't cry"

On Tuesday afternoon, Sonsoles Ónega was experiencing one of the most complicated moments of his professional career. And during the program, the Antena 3 space addressed the hard story of José Díaz, a man who for two years could neither speak, nor see, nor barely eat and also suffered chronic pain due to an accident.

His mother, Bartolina Pérez, went to the Antena 3 program months ago to raise her voice for her son, who wanted to die with dignity. ''I want my son to have a dignified death, which is what he asks for,'' she explained. After years of struggle, today, February 27, José Díaz's wish has been fulfilled and euthanasia will take place on April 1.

But despite it being one of the most complicated moments of their lives, José and his family are happy with the decision because they will finally be able to put an end to José's endless suffering. ''I haven't seen my brother so happy for three years. Finally, justice has listened to us,' said his sister, Sandra Díaz.

Moments later, the Antena 3 afternoon program connected live with José Díaz himself and his sister, who assured right away that his brother was a great follower of the presenter. A confession that moved Sonsoles Ónega herself, who after having a small conversation with José de her confessed that "the situation was being very difficult for her."

After that, the presenter gave way to José's sister, who confessed that the whole family was very happy with the decision. ''Finally justice has been done in my brother's case, there have been many negligences, obstacles, impediments. I don't know the reason because we had the law in our hands and my brother met all the requirements (...) But finally my brother is going to stop suffering and we are very happy for him. "They are contradictory feelings, I lose my brother, but we won a battle and I hope this serves as an example," she explained.

Regarding how they will spend these last days until April 1, José's sister explained that the objective was to ''enjoy as much time as possible with him as much as possible.'' ''We are going to enjoy it but in a different way, telling him how much we love him and how important he is to us. And he has asked us to always be united,' Sandra detailed.

However, the emotion overwhelmed the presenter, who was unable to hold back her tears live. ''I can't go on, sorry,'' she said with tears in her eyes. ''He's saying don't cry Sonsoles, it's no use crying, he wants to see us laugh because it's his suffering and he's going to stop suffering and we have to be happy about that victory for him no matter how hard it is for us,'' declared Sandra. ''We will always remember you José, I will never forget you, you tell me that you love me and I already love you too,'' the presenter concluded.
