Rita Irasema breaks down when talking about her serious illness: "I have something else that is also serious"

The Aragón family is, possibly, one of the most recognized and remembered in the Spanish entertainment scene. Gabriel, Alfonso and Emilio dazzled the entire country with their stage names: Gaby, Fofó and Miliki, commonly known as The TV Clowns. Miliki was the last to leave us in 2012, but his legacy is still present with his children, Emilio Jr. and Rita Irasema. However, not all is good news around the core.

Although for many years she has stayed away from the media and cameras, Irasema was a prominent figure as a presenter, actress, singer, screenwriter and composer during the 80s and 90s. Currently, however, she is going through a complicated stage due to illness. The Havana native explained her difficulties on Refugio Zavala TV, the YouTube channel of journalist and writer José María Zavala.

"I'm ill. My face is swollen because I now drink some yogurt due to a diet issue that I have to follow. This means that I have been through a lot, especially an autologous bone marrow transplant and more. Now I am in a period of remission, although I also have something else serious,” explained the former presenter of Superguay on Telecinco. Despite the bumps, Irasema also appreciated the support of her family.

“I'm very calm, because, in addition, my family and my brother help me a lot... and my children, I won't even tell you... Anyway, let's not get like that... Crybabies,” she said, trying to avoid tears as best she could. possible. Within the conversation with Zavala, the presenter also investigated faith as a method to calm down and cling to life, as her spiritual retreat 23 years ago was known: “Every day I ask Padre Pio to intercede for me.” .

It was in the year 2000 that Rita Irasema chose to leave the television sets and begin a journey of spiritual search, after having felt a revelation. She left everything behind and focused her body and soul on God, even visiting Christian pilgrimage points throughout Europe to inquire into her situation. It was an experience that the former presenter herself explained in detail to Misión magazine.

“I felt a spiritual emptiness. I was doing very well in life. But since I was about 15 years old I was always very unhappy because of a very big void. Until I couldn't take it anymore and the Virgin answered me. Little by little, the Lord gave me some details and signs, people who spoke to me about the joy of being Christians. Later, in 2004, I went to Medjugorje and there you realize it. You receive the wisdom necessary to become aware that there is something very big,” she said.
