Rafa Nadal, sunk at the funeral of his father-in-law

These are difficult times for tennis player Rafa Nadal and his wife, Mery Perelló. Her father, Miquel Perelló, died last Thursday in Manacor at the age of 63 after battling a long and hard illness for years.

This was revealed by the local media Última hora, which echoed the death of one of the most loved and respected person on the Balearic island. Although he had been ill for a long time, his death fell like a jug of cold water on the family, who fired him last Friday in an intimate and very emotional ceremony in which they could be visibly affected.

If the Perelló family has always been characterized by something, despite having among its members one of the most important tennis champions in the world, it is for their discretion and for tiptoeing through any type of public attention or controversial event, something that was not going to change in the face of a situation as tragic as the death of Nadal's father-in-law. Due to this position away from the focus that they have maintained for years, they have not given any type of statement to the press.

Last Friday, the family went to say their last goodbye to Miquel Perelló in the Parish of Cristo Rey in Manacor. At the entrance and exit of the church, Mery Perelló and her mother, María Pascual, could be seen devastated while the athlete Rafa Nadal accompanied them, wrapping them up and giving them affection.

A few days later, a photo came to light showing how the elite athlete can no longer hold his composure at the funeral and breaks down in tears at the loss of his father-in-law, with whom it is known that he had a great relationship.

Some members of the Nadal clan also attended Perelló's farewell: the tennis player's sister, Maribel Nadal, as well as his parents Ana María Parera and Sebastián Nadal, who had a very good relationship with the father-in-law of the winner of the Roland Garros tournament.

This sad news comes just a few months after Mery Perelló and Rafa Nadal became first-time parents and brought little Rafa into the world. The baby was born at the Quironsalud de Palmaplanas medical center in Palma de Mallorca. After various complications and an alarming admission of the mother at week 31 of pregnancy, the baby was born without any problem at week 37.

To this list of events, bad and good, we must add that Rafa Nadal is still injured and that a few days ago he announced that he would not finally participate in the Monte Carlo tournament: "I am not yet ready to compete at the highest level, so I will not be able to play in one of the most important tournaments of my career, Monte Carlo".
