Prime Video commissions a mystery series from the 'Deceptions' team after its success on Netflix

One of the unexpected success stories of this season is Deceptions. Netflix released it on January 1, when a substantial part of subscribers wanted to lie on the couch, and the British miniseries became a phenomenon: 84.9 million accounts have watched all the episodes after five weeks on the catalog. After this result, it should not surprise anyone that Prime Video has commissioned a project from the same team.

The series, which is currently titled Lazarus, is produced by Quay Street Productions, who made Deceptions for Netflix. It will focus on a man who returns to his family home after the suicide of his father, according to Deadline. There, suddenly, he will begin to experience inexplicable events as he becomes obsessed with a series of unsolved murders, in addition to the suicide of his father and the death of his sister, whom he buried 25 years earlier.

A key element is that, in addition to Quay Productions, Harlan Coben and Danny Brocklehurst are on board. Who are they? Coben is the mystery novel writer on whom Deceptions was based and who worked as executive producer on the series. The adaptations of his texts are already a classic, including series like Safe or the Spanish El Innocent with Mario Casas. Brocklehurst, on the other hand, was the screenwriter who adapted Deceptions. Now, together, they will explore an original mystery that is not based on any previous novel.

Lazarus, in addition, already has a cast. Sam Claflin, after leading the acclaimed Everybody Loves Daisy Jones, will play Laz, a forensic psychologist who, after fleeing from his past, is forced to confront him. He will also executive produce. Bill Nighy, known for Love Actually and nominated for an Oscar for Living, will be Laz's father, who after his death will continue to be present in the memory of his son.

Finally, Alexandra Roach, who could recently be seen in Cadavers, will be the sister who has dedicated her life to spirituality, marked by the death of her other sister.
