Hollywood fans are already dreaming of a new star couple. Meryl Streep and Martin Short have been spotted dining together recently, all amidst a slew of relationship rumors between the two. The rumors first began during this year's Golden Globes gala in early January. Both were very complicit and non-stop sharing laughter at the table of their series, Only murders in the building. Now Page Six uncovers this dinner, which is giving a lot to talk about.
The couple of performers have been photographed this week attending a modern restaurant, Giorgio Baldi, located in Santa Monica (California) with a group of friends. The aforementioned images have once again raised a lot of speculation. "I need it to be true" or "This supposed relationship is now my Roman Empire," are some of the comments that can be read on social networks.
Jackie Hoffman, one of their partners in the aforementioned series, recently responded to Page Six about these rumors. "I've seen that platonic chemistry, but I didn't think about it [that they were dating] for a second. I think they're both such good actors that everyone believed it because they wanted to believe it," she expressed. "He's always so active and I can't imagine she can put up with him," she joked.
After the series was broadcast, there were many fans who claimed that the romantic relationship between the characters of both performers could be transferred to reality. Short himself assured People magazine that the two were just "very good friends and nothing more." However, their visible connection in the interpretation and his recent public appearances have caused many to not believe his version.
It was last October, shortly after receiving the Princess of Asturias Award, when the news came to light that Meryl, 74 years old, had been separated from Don Gummer for several years. The sculptor was her husband for 45 years, as well as the father of her four daughters. Despite all the time they lived together, she has always remembered the late actor John Cazale as the love of her life, with whom she was madly in love in her youth.
For his part, Martin Shorte, 73, was married to Nancy Dolman for three decades. The Canadian actress died in 2010, at the age of 58, due to ovarian cancer that she suffered from. Since his death, no more partners have been recognized for the actor, who recently went viral after a video came to light in which he claimed that he was still "madly in love" with his wife. We will have to wait if the beautiful friendship with Meryl becomes something more than that.
