Massive discontent with the return of Cristina Pedroche to 'Password'

After a wait that has lasted for more than a decade, the well-known Password television contest has returned to our screens. This Friday, Antena 3 has revived the famous program that Cuatro originally broadcast between 2008 and 2010, with Luján Argüelles and Ana Milán at the helm. In this new stage, Cristina Pedroche assumes the main role of presenter.

In its revamped format, Password will be issued daily. However, to celebrate his return, Antena 3 has programmed a series of four specials in prime time. These episodes will feature the participation of renowned personalities such as Miki Nadal, Dabiz Muñoz, David Bustamante, Ana Milán, Chenoa, Antonio Resines, Lorena Castell and Santiago Segura.

The expected return of the contest, which every April becomes a viral meme, has not been very well received on social networks, which soon filled with opinions and criticism, to the point of turning Password into the trending topic main on Twitter. This fact demonstrates the great interest that its reappearance has aroused, but also shows that the changes introduced in the format have not gone unnoticed.

Despite the great expectation generated, the initial reaction of the audience has been marked by skepticism. This has been clearly reflected in the comments shared on social networks, a useful thermometer to gauge the pulse of public opinion. The voices of the viewers, it seems, lean towards criticism.

The most frequent protests concern various aspects of the modernized program. The new gameplay seems to be one of the main points of contention. Viewers, accustomed to the original format, have expressed their bewilderment and dissatisfaction with the changes introduced. Other criticized aspects are the constant shouting from the public, considered an unnecessary distraction, the voice-over and the clues that are given during the contest.

Despite this first rejection, it is necessary for the format to have a little more continuity so that it can be judged more rigorously if it ends up being a success or if Antena 3 has to sacrifice it. In this sense, it remains to be seen if the new version of Password, especially when the daily version arrives, manages to win the affection of its audience, just as its predecessor managed to do more than a decade ago.
