Marta Sánchez on her version of the Spanish anthem: "The more they whistle, the more I sing it"

Marta Sánchez is one of the great artists of our country. The singer has been immersed in the world of music for more than thirty-seven years and since then she has been carving out an unparalleled career, in which she has been reaping numerous successes. But her faultless journey has been involved on more than one occasion by various controversies.

One of them has been his particular version of the Spanish anthem. The singer shared her version with the whole world in 2018 and although she is not the first to see someone try to put lyrics to it, the artist's creation was not well received by a large part of the population.

A subject that has haunted him these years ago and that he spoke about this afternoon in the Antena 3 space And now Sonsoles. The composer has been the guest on the new Sonsoles Ónega program. The audience on the set received the singer with effusive applause, who entered and gave the presenter two kisses. But to the surprise of the artist, Miguel Lago suddenly approached the two and confessed to being a big fan of Sánchez. ''This voice is something out of the ordinary. It's the most '', he assured.

''We had been wanting to receive you on this set for a long time,'' the presenter told him. The interview began with the artist confessing that she was in her best artistic moment, after more than 37 years in music. ''I am very lucky to be the fifth most listened to Latin artist with 6 million listeners, which is outrageous and my music is still valid, which is what makes me most excited,'' she asserted.

And although she is very happy with her career, she confessed that she does not take seriously the negative comments made about her, although she recognized that "they better talk about one." ''We are a country that is very critical, that we do not extol what is Spanish and we throw down what is ours. You have to value what is Spanish,'' she declared.

The singer has always been in the media spotlight and even more so after her recent version of the Spanish anthem, which Sonsoles Ónega asked her about. ''I love your patriotism. The Spanish anthem will be with you all your life. Are we able to understand it or not?'', she would say to him. ''What I say is always very sad, it makes me angry to see Lady Gaga singing the American anthem and raising a flag and we are here thinking about the question of being able to sing the anthem or not,'' she confessed.

The artist assured that she interpreted the hymn because she feels very proud to be Spanish. ''I don't want to get into politics, that's not my thing. I have a political ideology but with the anthem I do not intend to situate myself on the right, left or center,'' she asserted. ''I'm always going to sing it for the four who ask me to, so they know. The more they whistle the more I sing it,'' she added.
