Latest news on Julián Muñoz's health status in 'Friday!': his daughter and Mayte Zaldívar deny the reason for the hospitalization

Julián Muñoz is one of the most remembered characters in Spanish news in the last 30 years. The former mayor of Marbella ended up sentenced to 15 years of disqualification and 18 months in prison for continued crimes of prevarication, fraud and urban planning prevarication. However, his situation would end up changing radically in 2021, when he was released after being diagnosed with a “serious and incurable illness.”

Over the last three years, his state of health has been deteriorating little by little until the current situation arises, in which he has been admitted to the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella for 16 days. The program Friday! of Telecinco, based on the information shared by Pepe del Real in Let's see, has given the latest update on his state of health. A report that Franc Recio has been able to share thanks to his daughter Elia and his ex-partner, Mayte Zaldívar.

Both have denied that their hospital admission was expressly caused by respiratory failure, as had been recently discussed. According to her statements, this affectation is as a consequence of the true reason for the hospitalization: her illness. Likewise, and at Julián's express wish, they did not want to reveal what type of condition it was.

Julián Muñoz's health problems began to show in his body in 2006, the same year he entered prison. A fact, however, that would not become public knowledge until the premiere of his docuseries in 2022, where he spoke without any filter about what was happening to him. “They told me that they didn't understand me and I told them that nothing was happening to me. There they detected that he had suffered a stroke,” the affected person expressed during the interview.

“He weighed 64 kilos. I became diabetic, I became deaf, I had a heart attack… A disaster,” she added. In his words, the prison doctor predicted “a risk of death of more than 50%” given all the pathologies present, which is why the judge ended up granting him the third degree. For his part, he himself insisted that he still did not feel free despite being out of prison. He himself indicated on the calendar the date he most expected.

“I have to do community work and I can't leave the province of Malaga. I have 7 years left of this. On October 29, 2028, that will be the day of my absolute freedom, until then I remain a prisoner,” were his words. Julián Muñoz also insisted that his desire after leaving prison was only to live in peace.
