Josep Santacana's message hours before the trial with Arantxa Sánchez Vicario

This Thursday the trial against Josep Santacana and Arantxa Sánchez Vicario for alleged tax crimes resumes with the processing of final reports, at which time the businessman will be able to take the floor and testify again in front of the Judge and those present.

A few hours ago, Europa Press reported some statements that the ex-husband of the famous former tennis player shared when leaving the preparatory meeting with his lawyers. When reporters asked her if she believes that justice will be "equal for everyone," the investigator answered sincerely: "Let's hope."

However, Santacana decided to remain silent when asked about the surprising family photo that the Sánchez Vicario family gave to the press just a week ago. Arantxa Sánchez Vicario reappeared publicly at the gala of the 10th edition of the María de Villota Awards surrounded by her entire family, something that left the media present in shock.

It should be noted that the family members had not appeared together at such events and celebrations for many years due to a series of estrangements, arguments and fights, so having the presence of Marisa Vicario Rubio (mother of the former tennis player) and Emilio, Javier and Marisa Sánchez Vicario (her brothers), caused great astonishment in the public.

There is great popular and media expectation about the legal procedure that investigates the alleged fraudulent acts that the ex-couple committed a few years ago. Both are accused of having hidden assets to avoid paying a debt of 7.5 million euros to the Bank of Luxembourg (asset seizure). However, the three-time winner of the Roland Garros tournament made it clear that at that time it was her ex-husband who controlled her money.

After a lot of work on the part of the defense and exposing what the events had been like, the prosecution and the lawyer representing the Bank of Luxembourg decided to reduce the initial sentence they requested for the Catalan woman. By considering Santacana responsible for the debt, the prison sentence for her ex-wife went from four years to only two, so she will avoid jail as she has no criminal record.

In addition, she will have to pay 5,400 euros instead of the 8,640 that they claimed at the beginning (and that they still claim from Santacana) and she will have to face, together with her ex-husband, the debt of 6.6 million euros that they have with the Bank of Luxembourg.
